Obituary of Sandra A. Thunberg

Sandra A. Thunberg, 83, of Pittsford, NY, formerly of Jamestown, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, in the Highland Hospital, Rochester, NY. She was born November 15, 1937, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late Marvin A. and Harriet M. Gibson Anderson. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School and had been employed by the Jamestown Foundation as an administrative assistant to the financial planner. However, her favorite job was working with her father at the former B&E Electric Corporation where he was a co-owner. Sandra lived in Jamestown most of her life and always considered Jamestown her home. She and Jim had a cottage at Bournes Beach in Westfield, NY where many family memories were made. They also had a home in Myrtle Beach, SC that she referred to as her "happy place". In most recent years they moved to Canandaigua, NY to be closer to their daughters. Sandra considered her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and being "Mimi" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sandra loved being a homemaker and each of her homes was her pride and refuge. Surviving is her husband of 65 years, M. James Thunberg whom she married May 5, 1956, two daughters: Shelley (Lee) Jacobs of Fairport, NY, Melanie (Patrick) Byrne of Pittsford, NY, her grandchildren: Jason and Callie Jacobs, Brent and fiancé Alexandria Stein, Elizabeth Byrne, Patrick Byrne, II, Abigail Byrne and her great grandchildren: Thompson, Carter, and Margot Jacobs. The funeral will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Knopp, pastor emeritus of Christ First United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:30 am Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sandra's name may be made to the Friendly Home Senior Living, 3156 East Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14618.
