Obituary of Sandra J. Swanson

Sandra J. Swanson, 70, of Ashville, NY, passed away at 11:19 am Friday, January 7, 2022, in UPMC Chautauqua. A lifelong area resident, she was born April 29, 1951, in Jamestown, NY, a daughter of the late David and Joann Montgomery McKay. In earlier years Sandy had worked for the former Red Coach Inn and Sam's Club. In recent years she had worked for Wal-Mart for 17 years and the Ashville General Store. She was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to spend time quilting and enjoyed her time with friends at Quilters Haven. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who loved taking care of her home, watching birds, and feeding all the animals. Surviving is her husband of 52 years, Carl A. Swanson whom she married December 27, 1969, three sons: Richard (Tammy) Swanson of Panama, NY, Todd Swanson of Ashville, NY, Troy (Jennifer) Swanson of Lakewood, NY, three grandchildren: Brioana Swanson of Cullowhee, NC, Crystal Swanson of Panama, Jacob (Hannah) Swanson Bowling Green, KY. Two brothers: Eugene McKay of Little Valley, NY, Craig Pavolko of Ashtabula, OH, and two Sisters: Sherry Kooser of Little Valley, Lisa Stephan of Kill Buck, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Trevor S. Swanson who died October 4, 1998, and two brothers, Dana Pavolko and Terry McKay. The funeral will be held at 1 pm Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville, NY. Friends will be received from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, two hours prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral home where masks are required.
