Obituary of James E. Johnston

James E. Johnston, Jr., 81, of Tanglewood Manor, formerly of 611 Busti Sugar Grove Road, died Monday January 17, 2022, in UPMC Hamot, Erie. He was born April 28, 1940, in Philipsburg, PA, the son of the late James and Elma Winters Johnston, Sr. He was a 1958 graduate of Quincy High School. For many years he worked at Don's Car Wash in the bakery. He earlier had worked for Jones Bakery and at the Chautauqua Mall in maintenance. He enjoyed Civil War reenactments and pitching horseshoes. He was a member of the Falconer Horseshoe League. Surviving is a son Michael (Lakota) Johnston of Lakewood; two grandchildren Emmalee Johnston of Frewsburg and Baylee Johnston of Lakewood and a brother Richard Johnston of Kennedy. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Goldie Raner Johnston, whom he married June 16, 1967 and who died January 11, 2018 and three sisters Phyllis, Iris and Cora. No funeral service or visitation will be observed. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W.
