Obituary of Wayne G. Coan

Wayne G. Coan, 68, of Jamestown, died peacefully Tuesday February 8, 2022, in Lecom Senior Living Center, Erie, following a battle with dementia. He was born May 10, 1953, in Jamestown, a son of Gene and Betty Bratt Coan. He was a 1972 graduate of Jamestown High School. Wayne stayed in contact with many of his old school friends and loved them like family. During high school he enjoyed music and had a band that played in the area. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by South Hills Country Club as a greens keeper for many years. He was a member of the Eagles Club. Wayne enjoyed playing tennis in his younger years and golfed and bowled throughout his life. He was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He loved his pets. Prior to his illness he attended Hillcrest Baptist Church. Surviving is his father of Jamestown; two sisters Diane Ostrom of Busti and Sherrie (Don) Tonkin of Jamestown and niece and nephews Jennifer, Jason and Justin Ostrom and Jed, Jakob, Jonah, and Joshua Tonkin. He was preceded in death by his mother. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will not be observed.
