Janet Reagle

Obituary of Janet Reagle

Janet Louise (Engle) Reagle, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went to meet her Lord and Savior Saturday morning March 26, at her winter home in Clermont, FL. Although unexpected and unprepared we who are left can only relish in the thought of how overjoyed she is to be reunited with family and friends and to be with the God she has so faithfully served her entire life. A current resident of Lakewood, NY, she was born January 5, 1941, in Corry, PA to the late Donald and Mildred (Nichols) Engle. Following graduation from Corry High School in 1958, she went on to receive her teaching degree from Evangel University, Springfield MO. Janet began her teaching career in 1962 in Warren, OH until 1965 when she was married and moved to Lakewood NY. She taught full time at Celoron Elementary school before becoming a mother and focusing on raising her children. During these years she did occasionally take on long term substitutions in various local schools. After her children were grown Jan was given the opportunity to teach full time again taking a job teaching 5th grade at Clymer Central school where she continued teaching until her retirement in 2001. After retirement Bob and Jan spent much time traveling in their RV to various spots, visiting family, friends and favorite places. During this time they found a special place in Clermont Florida eventually selling their RV and purchasing a home there for their winter excursions. Jan was a member of the Kidder United Methodist Church and past member of the Clymer United Methodist and Evangelical United Methodist Church of Corry PA. An active member of each church, she also taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and played piano. Her love of the piano and ministry through music was apparent to all and will be sadly missed. As will her annual Christmas Card Poems and handmade cards that she gave for any and every occasion she could think of. These what seemed like small tokens are now priceless treasures and will be cherished by all who possess them. Anyone who knew Jan will remember her smile and ability to instantly put you at ease. She would listen and actually hear you, truly caring about what you had to say. You could tell her anything and never worry about being judged. Her love and support were felt by many, she was unconditional. She will be remembered as a strong, hardworking, Christ driven woman who loved Jesus and loved sharing his love with others. An inspiration to all to just be a good person and treat others with kindness. Surviving are her husband and love of her life of 56 years Robert H Reagle whom she married on July 10, 1965. Three children, Charlene Reagle, Lakewood, NY, Scott (Melissa) Reagle, Jamestown, NY and Beth (Mark) Smyntek, New Franklin, OH. A brother, James Engle of Union City, PA. She is also survived by ten grandchildren that held a very special place in her heart: Ashley Reagle, Lakewood, NY, Derek Reagle, Amherst NY, Brandon, Ayden, Conner and Emma Reagle of Jamestown, NY, Logan Williams of Columbia, TN, Katelyn, Allyson, and Madyson Smyntek of New Franklin, OH. Many nieces and nephews who were all especially close to her and her constant furry companion Benji. The funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday in Kidder United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 4-7 pm Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, PA.
