Obituary of Irene S. Lynch

Irene S. Lynch, 84, of Venice, Fla., formerly of 33 Hunter St. in Jamestown, died Sunday, April 3, 2022 in Florida. She was the wife of Thomas M. Lynch whom she married in Jamestown on November 18, 1990. An area resident most of her life, Irene was born March 31, 1938 in Jamestown, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lodema Thomson Lamb, and was a 1956 graduate of Falconer Central School. In earlier years, she was a librarian at Southwestern Central School and in later years a research communications librarian for Cummins Engine in Lakewood. Irene was a member of the Chautauqua Book Club, enjoyed singing with the Chautauqua Choir during the summer, and was an avid gardener during the summer as well. In addition to her husband, Tom, surviving are two sons: Jon Saulsgiver of Webster, NY and Mark Saulsgiver of Westport, NY; two grandchildren, Zak Saulsgiver of Westport, NY and Zoé Saulsgiver of Boise, ID; six sisters: Nancy Sennet of Seattle, WA, Lucille Phelps of St. Cloud, FL, Vivian Larson of Fredonia, Linda Newhouse of Sterling Heights, MI, Mabel Haliburton of Nova Scotia, Canada, and Rosalee Globerson-Lamb of Oakland, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Marie Lamb, and a son, Jason Saulsgiver. A memorial service will be held in Jamestown at a later date to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home.
