Obituary of Carol A. Sandberg

Carol A. Sandberg, 94, of The Magnolia in Frewsburg, formerly of 2171 Swanson Road, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022. She was the widow of Donald N. Sandberg who died April 28, 2014 after 66 years of marriage. A Jamestown native, Carol was born February 16, 1928, the daughter of the late Oscar F. and Anna Bergman Erickson, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, which later became Tree of Life Lutheran. Carol enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be vacationing in Florida, working on her flower garden, watching birds or time spent with family at their Lake Erie cottage. Surviving are two sons, Steve (Pat) Sandberg and Rick (Diane) Sandberg, both of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Erick (Cammy) Sandberg of Jamestown, Nathan Sandberg of Portland, OR, Ben Sandberg (Emily Perkins) of Liverpool, NY, Rodney (Ashley) Sandberg of Ashville, NY, Anna (Rob) Hamm of Kingston, NY, and Ryan (Irys) Sandberg of Jamestown; five great-grandchildren: Gaven (Tabetha) Sandberg of North East, PA, Gabrielle (Matt) Bennink of Jamestown, Levi Hamm of Kingston, and Raegan Sandberg and Jack Sandberg, both of Ashville; as well as a great-great-granddaughter, Hadlee Sandberg of North East. In addition to her parents and her husband, Don, Carol was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Sandberg; brother, Allan Duane Erickson; and a great-great-grandson, Colter Sandberg. A memorial service will be held on a date in August to be announced by the Lind Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Rd., Jamestown, NY 14701; or the Chautauqua Lake Association, 429 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
