Obituary of Georgia C. Porter

Georgia Claire Wassman Porter, 87, formerly of 225 Maplecrest Avenue, Lakewood, died Sunday September 4, 2022, in Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing. An area resident most of her life, she was born July 18, 1935, in Patterson, NJ, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Smith Coleman. From 1971 to 2018, she owned and operated a hair and nail salon Swing-N-Set. She was a member of Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. Surviving are four children Sherry Carraher of Columbia, SC, Richard Wassman of Hilton Head, SC, Jeanine Andrews of Lakewood and William "Bill" Wassman of Lakewood; seven grandchildren Callie Love, Christie Fulkerson, Brendan Andrews, Ryan Wassman, Jessica Wassman, Samantha Wassman and Chloe Wassman and four great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Porter who died November 18, 2021, and two sisters Cordelia Dealey and Diviann Bender. The funeral will be held at 4 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bentley Cemetery, Lakewood. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home.
