Obituary of Shirley A. Boutelle

Shirley A. Boutelle, 83, of Busti, NY passed away Sunday evening, March 12, 2023 at UPMC Chautauqua surrounded in a circle of love by her family. She was the widow of the late Howard R. Boutelle, Sr. whom she married June 18, 1960 and who died Sept. 16, 2017. Shirley was born Aug. 14, 1939 in Jamestown, the youngest of 6 children of the late John and Neva Blackmar Stormer, Sr. A graduate of Celoron and Southwestern Central Schools, she had been a legal secretary for several offices, including Weeks & Erickson in Jamestown. Shirley was a member of Ashville United Methodist Church and the Celoron American Legion. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her home was always a place of love and she was a mother to all who walked through her door. She enjoyed her time with family at numerous memorable birthday parties, family reunions, and Christmas gatherings. Shirley enjoyed trips with her husband to the Atlantic Ocean, time at the casino, an Elvis song, and always had a cat in her lap. Surviving are her four children: Cheryl (Doug) Trabert of Erie, PA, Ellen (Clint) Chapman of Lottsville, PA, Howard R. (Patricia) Boutelle, Jr. of Orchard Park, NY, and Jennifer Boutelle of Busti, NY; as well as 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, a sister, Mary Smith and 4 brothers, John Jr., Donald, Robert Sr., and Charles Stormer. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 16 in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday for two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society.
