Obituary of Jimmy V. Saracina

Jimmy V. Saracina, 86, of Jamestown, NY, formerly of Lackwanna, NY, passed away at 4:15 am Saturday, March 18, 2023, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. A Jamestown area resident since 2006, he was born July 27, 1936, in Buffalo, NY, a son of the late John and Virginia DePhillips Saracina. Before his retirement he was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel Company in Lackawanna, NY for 28 years before it's closing. While living in Jamestown he was a communicant of Holy Apostles Parish, Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He will be remembered as one who loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors riding his bicycle and taking long walks. Surviving are his three children, Alan A. (Tara) Saracina of Summerville, SC, Sharon (Richard) Casselman of Jamestown, NY, Donna Marie Saracina of Hamburg, NY, four grandchildren, Alan "AJ" Saracina of Clemson, SC, Austin Saracina of Savannah, GA, Courtney (Chris) Hammond of Jamestown, NY, Andrew Casselman of West Lake, OH, two great grandchildren, Adrian and Emory Hammond, two sisters, Lucy Edwards of Orchard Park, NY, Emily Rohe of Hamburg, NY, and a brother, Frank Saracina of ME. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his companion of 35 years, Freda Frazier who died December 28, 2005, six brothers, Elmer, Alfred, Joseph, Anthony, Johnny, and Louis Saracina, and four sisters, Edith Mangino, Susie Turner, Mary Moore, and Helen Saracina. Jimmy's family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Park for their excellent care of him during this past year. The funeral will be held at 4 pm Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm Tuesday, two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
