Obituary of Heriberto Perez

Heriberto Campos Perez, 76, of 457 Fairmount Avenue, died Wednesday April 26, 2023, in UPMC Chautauqua. He was born April 9, 1947, in Isabela, Puerto Rico, s son of Juan Perez Vargas and Marcelina Campos Vega. His oldest sister: Evangelina Perez. He was a 14-year veteran of the US Army and served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. During the service, he was a boxer. He loved boxing. He could recite any boxing fight move for move, fighter for fighter and win for win. He went on to study welding and worked for The Army Corps of Engineers as a welder working under water fixing dams. As a child and teen he loved swimming and was given the name Chanoc, who was a Hispanic comic book hero. He used to climb up high cliffs and would dive into the water or ocean. He was very popular growing up for stunts he would do no one else could. He had the impeccable talent of walking on his hands. He could walk long distances and even up and down stairs. He was very giving. And he loved to make people laugh (he had the best jokes). He left a mark on everyone he touched. He loved his family very much and in return, they loved him. Surviving are children Nilda Perez Osborne, Roberto Perez Jr., Carlos Julio Perez, Aretina Perez, Maria Cartmell, Laban Perez and Sanchel Hall; several grandchildren and siblings Catalina Perez, Minerva Perez, Fernando Perez, Elizabeth Griffin, Nilda Luz La Clair, and Juan Carlos Perez. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. You may leave words of condolence at www.lindfuneralhome.com. .
