Obituary of Monica Sue Lett

Monica Sue Lett, 69, of Falconer, NY, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was born Feb. 10, 1954 in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of the late Donald William Lett and Joyleen (Grummer) Sherwood, and was a graduate of Wilton High School. She later graduated from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. Monica was employed as a childcare counselor in Texas for many years, did missionary work in Mexico, and later worked for St. Luke's Hospital in Texas. She was a former member of the Sisters of St. Francis and has been an area resident since 2005. Monica is survived by her spouse and partner of 37 years, Hope L. Furlow; two sisters: Marika Lett of Rock Island, IL and Malisa Davies of Ankeny, IA; a brother, Rev. Randy Lett of Lexington, MI; three stepsiblings: Karen Strefling, Kathy Bowie and Kristy King; and special great niece and nephew, Kassidy and Karmelo. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, William and Jim Sherwood. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Pastor Douglas Penhollow. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday. Burial will be in Iowa.
