Obituary of Robert Bartlett Smith

Robert Bartlett "Smitty" Smith, currently of Fredonia and formerly of Catlin Ave. in Jamestown, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 2023, at the Veterans Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He was born in Jamestown on Jan. 12, 1948, a son of the late Edward W. and Aileen Bartlett Smith, and was a 1966 graduate of Jamestown High School. He then served in the Air Force from 1967 until 1983 and was a retiree of the Jamestown BPU. Smitty attended S.S. Peter & Paul Church, where he served as an altar boy in earlier years. He loved music, tech gadgets, airplanes, and cars, especially his 1994 black Chevy Impala SS. Surviving is his wife, Rhonda Wilson Smith, whom he married July 22, 1972, at S.S. Peter & Paul Church; two sons: Scott M. (Vivian) Smith of Jamestown and Jeffrey A. (Naomi) Smith of West Ellicott; four grandchildren: Alexis (Josh) Crocker of Pensacola, FL, and Josiah Smith, Gabrielle Smith and Isabella Smith, all of Jamestown; a great-grandson, Jude Crocker; brother, Ken (Jean) Smith and sister, Cathy (Joe) Cameron, both of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Smitty was preceded in death by his beloved black lab, Max. The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. Pastor Edwin Ramirez (Faith Bible Chapel) and Pastor Scott Linden (Sherman Community Church) will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Western New York National Cemetery in Corfu, NY. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will follow directly after at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., P.O.
