Obituary of David W. Flasher

David W. "Flash" Flasher, 74, of 15 Dearborn St., passed away Friday, Jan. 26, 2024 at UPMC Hamot with his family by his side. A lifelong area resident, he was born in Jamestown Sept. 21, 1949, the son of the late Warren W. and Katherine Rupczyk Flasher, and was a graduate of Eisenhower High School in Russell, Pa. He then served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1974. Prior to his retirement, Flash was employed for 38 years as a millwright by Valeo Engine Cooling, formerly Blackstone. He had previously been a member of the Jamestown Moose Club, loved playing softball, was a huge Mets fan, as well as the Bills, and in younger years enjoyed fishing and hunting. Surviving is his wife, Debbie Hultin Flasher whom he married March 18, 1989; three children: Jennifer Hultin-Kolstee (Timothy), Jason D. Flasher, and Ashley Devlin (William); and five grandchildren: Reiley Kolstee, Chase Kolstee, Lexie Rizzo, Parker Devlin, and Jaelynn Flasher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Marie Ellen Flasher. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. Rev. Douglas Kibbe will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday.
