Obituary of Katherine L. Auria

Katherine L. "Kay" Auria, 80, of Ashville, passed away March 4th, 2024. Kay was born Dec. 5th, 1943 in Harmony, NY, the daughter of the late Paul R. and Ruth A. Gleason. While Kay did work outside of the home for several years, her most gratifying life purpose was caring for and giving to her family and friends. She loved making homemade dinners, baking, canning, sewing, berry picking, jigsaw puzzles, and caretaking for those she loved. There was nothing that she did not do with perfection. Kay was selfless, always putting others first. Kay was a great historian. She kept meticulous records of family details and events, as well as her daily life. Kay is survived by her daughters, Debby Auria of Jamestown, Lisa (Dan) Gard of Jamestown and Lesley Auria of Dunkirk; grandchildren: Dan Auria of Ashville, Ashley Short of Jamestown and Nicholas Huffman of Ashville; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patricia Smith. She was predeceased by her parents Paul and Ruth; sisters Helen and Shirley; husband, Frank; baby son, Frank Jr.; and grandson, Jamie Short. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm in the Lind Funeral Home, with the funeral to follow at 3 pm. Burial will take place following the service, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Jamestown.
