Obituary of Marilyn L. Costello

Marilyn L. Costello, 87, of 3444 Fluvanna Townline Road, died Sunday March 24, 2024, in UPMC Chautauqua. Born February 19, 1937, in Jamestown, she was a daughter of the late Alton and Ruth Bratt Whiting. After many years as manager of Super Duper Deli Department, where she was well known for her catering of special events, she retired from Peterson Farms as a clerk. Because of her love for cooking, Sunday dinners were always a special time for any family members or friends who attended. In addition, her joy was creating beautiful flower arrangements. She was a member of the Vikings. The family would like to thank Chautauqua County EMS and the UPMC staff of the Emergency Department and the 4th floor Comfort Care Unit for the exceptional care and concern they provided Marilyn. Surviving are two children Terry (Darryl) Braley of Jamestown and Randall (Janice) Costello of Murphy, NC; grandchildren Jason (Bridget) Braley of San Francisco, CA, Ryan (Julie) Braley of Victor, NY, Alysha (Ryan) Hoag of Dublin, OH and Andrew (Elizabeth) Braley of Balston Lake, NY; great grandchildren Violet, Owen, Natalie, Luke, Rachel, Benjamin and Maddy Braley and Jack and Charlie Hoag; two sisters Donna Wolfe and Andrea (Robin) Pettyjohn and her dog and constant companion "Puppy." She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Costello, whom she married October 24, 1953, and who died June 16, 2017, and an infant daughter. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19 at 3 pm in the Lind Funeral Home. Friends will be received Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 3 pm, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department, 3536 Fluvanna Ave, Jamestown, NY 14701 or Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
